Site requirements and placement for RAE Charge
Where Charge can go, what the enclosure is designed to tolerate, and what to check before mounting.
Preliminary guidance. It describes current design intent; dimensions, clearances, and procedures will be confirmed in the installation manual that accompanies certification.
RAE Charge is designed for demanding residential and small-site environments. This guide lists the placement considerations that follow from the current design specifications. Final values will be confirmed in the installation manual.
Environment
- Enclosure. IP67 rating design specification, intended for indoor or outdoor placement.
- Operating temperature. Design range of -15 F to 125 F. Avoid locations with sustained direct heat load where a shaded alternative exists.
- Noise. The operating profile is designed to stay below a typical household refrigerator, so placement near living spaces is acceptable.
- Drainage and snow. For outdoor placement, keep the unit above the expected snow line and away from roof run-off.
Mounting
- Wall-mounted is the primary configuration. Confirm the wall can carry the unit weight (design specification under 400 lb) and use the anchor pattern from the final manual.
- Stacked ground-mounted configurations are supported where the site layout and inverter architecture allow.
- Lifting. Plan for two installers or a lift for positioning.
Access
- Keep the integrated disconnect reachable and the touchscreen visible at a comfortable height.
- Leave the airflow clearances for the active cooling system as specified in the final manual.
- Allow room for RAE Connect and its network connection nearby.
Checklist for the survey
- Photograph the proposed location with a tape measure in frame.
- Note wall construction and any obstructions.
- Identify the network path (wired preferred) for Connect.
- Record the distance to the electrical service and the inverter.
